  • They talk with anyone who calls or knocks on the door. It's polite and fills a need for socialization.
  • They have kind and generous hearts and want to help others.  A donation to a charity or helping someone in a tight spot seems like the right thing to do.
  • They have manners. It's rude to hang up on someone and be assertive with a firm "no."
  • They are more easily confused. Talking around and around a victim is one way to talk them into something because they aren't aware they are being manipulated.
  • They trust people. When someone calls saying they are from the bank, the IRS, the victim's mortgage holder or credit card company, seniors don't question them and provice the information requested.
