Last evening, my longtime friend, Beth, called to tell me about her elderly Aunt Mary. As the story unfolded, I quickly but sadly realized that Aunt Mary was another example of just how vulnerable seniors are against smooth-operating criminals.
Unfortunately, the most vulnerable segment of American society to scams, frauds and cons are those people ages 65 and older. Since the last census taken in 2010, the trends reported say that age group is also one of the fastest growing segments of population in the United States. In fact, it is projected that the number of people in that age group will double in the next century and the oldest old are the fastest growing portion of that group.
